Asbestos Legislation
Friday, August 28, 2009Asbestos was considered an ideal material for industry use in the 1800s up to the early 1900s. It was known to be an excellent fire retardant, to have high electrical resistivity, and was inexpensive and easy to use.
The problem with asbestos arises with its small size which makes it dangerous if inhaled. Because of the size of the fibers, they penetrate the tissues.
Asbestos legislation aims to protect workers, working in an environment exposed to asbestos, be protected from diseases and illnesses caused by asbestos.
