On Guitars and Arthritis

Friday, May 4, 2012

I’ve tried learning how to play the guitar last sem break and I can say I’ve somewhat succeeded in my goals. I’ve learned how to play my favorite songs on the guitar but unfortunately, I lacked the time for practicing after my sembreak hence, I think I’ve forgotten how to play it T_T

I’ve promised myself that I’ll invest in a good brand of guitar, such as the PRS Guitars, when I finally have enough time to take legit guitar lessons. I don’t know when this is, but I do hope that it’s not too late that I’m too old for it and my hand are already suffering from arthritis.

Job Interview. At last?

I will be out of town next week for an interview and hopefully, everything will go well. Even though what I’ve applied for is just a cadetship program for Metallurgical Engineers, I think it will do good on my career and who knows, might even help me go up the ladder in the future.

I still ain’t sure how to prepare for the interview but so far, I’ve researched on the company profile, mission and vision, products and current prices of metal commodoties.

I’ll keep this post short because I need to start reviewing for the boards. Teehee.

Wish me luck. Pray for me, please? I’ll need all the prayers and the luck for next week. :D

Life is a jigsaw puzzle

Sunday, April 22, 2012

Life basically, is a variety of jigsaw puzzles that we have to solve. If one piece is missing, then there is no way that we’ll get to complete the picture. It’s a challenge, actually. Putting together the pieces and figuring out which one goes with which, as well as finding that last piece of puzzle that’s supposed to go at the center.

To solve life’s jigsaw puzzles, you need to have the patience as well as the common sense to fit the pieces together. As long as you have the ultimate goal in mind, then this shouldn’t be really a problem.

I am a professional bum

One of the first things that I would buy with my first salary (once I get a job) would be a plasma TV and a sturdy plasma TV stand. That is, if I earn big enough to afford one.

August is just a few months away from now and this only means that I should prepare myself for the boards exam. I still don’t know when I’ll start reviewing but I’ll make sure that it’s definitely sooner. My goal is not only to pass the boards exam, but to make it to the top as well.

Graduation: 7 Years in the Making

Everything’s still surreal. I still can’t believe that after 7 years in the College of Engineering, I finally made it out, ALIVE! Although I wasn’t able to graduate in the degree program of Industrial Engineering, at least I still managed to finish Metallurgical Engineering and even have a blast while doing so.

Even though I was a complete stranger in the Department of MMM, I still managed to make friends with people two years my junior. I have no regrets because the years that I have spent in the University have taught me a lot.

Cheers to the graduates of 2012! :D

After 7 Years of Waiting…

Wednesday, April 4, 2012

Finally! It’s happening. :) After seven agonizing years in the UP Diliman College of Engineering, I am finally graduating with a degree in BS Metallurgical Engineering.

I want to thank everyone who believed that I can do it. To my friends, family, professors and classmates who believed that I can make it, I would like to send my sincerest gratitude to all of you. I wouldn’t have survived Engg, the hell that we all know, if it weren’t for you guys. And of course, I would also like to thank God, who have always answered all my prayers just when I was on the verge of giving up. With this good news, I feel like a tight clamps around my neck has been finally released.

After 7 years of waiting, I know that the sunflowers are now blooming for me.

The Music in Me

Wednesday, March 7, 2012

Although I have little musician’s blood running through my veins, I have to admit that learning to play different musical instruments was once my passion. Thanks to the stress induced by College Life, i had to give it up and settle on watching other people live my dream.

My brother has a complete set of guitars and last sembreak, I decided to give it another shot. Guitar’s not really on my list but since it’s readily available in our house, I gave it a try. So far, I was able to play five complete songs. I still have to practice though, so that I could sing while playing the guitar (though I must admit I don’t really sing well).

when second sem started, I seldom went home on the weekends, so i really don’t have the time to practice more. After my hell sem I assure you, I’ll get better playing the instrument and I might even buy accessories (like the DW i saw recently on the net) or a guitar of my own!

Pardon me for ranting

Forgive me for not posting anything new for the past few weeks. My last semester in the Universiy is very stressful, along with stress from work and social life. I am not emotionally stable right now and I think it has been affecting my academic performance lately.

Anyway. GAAAAAH. I need to learn how to effectively manage my time.

Tssss. Maybe my next post would denote happiness, who knows. But for now, pardon me for ranting.

New Condo

Friday, February 17, 2012

My lola had her condo unit recently renovated. The truth is, I like the new unit compared to the old one. The one she’s living in now has a more home-y feel and at the same time, I like the way how my tito designed it. I wish I could post a picture of it, but the pics are in my iPod and I don’t feel like getting the cable now — too lazy to do it. Hehe.

Anyway, if you want to get a classic look for your home, go for cedar furniture, or any wooden furniture for that matter. Most modernistic interior designs nowadays use colorful, plastic pieces of furniture, making everything synthetic — not real.

You really wanna stalk my blog? Really?

New Haircut, New Life

Sunday, February 5, 2012

Getting a haircut was one of the best decisions I’ve made so far. And yes. It’s because I’m heartbroken and I want some changes in my life as of the moment. Call it cliche, but having a haircut indeed help in keeping me sane and rational in dealing with this emotional stress that I have right now.

pardon me for not posting in a long time, but it’s because I’m busy with a lot of things right now. My hands are full, that I barely have time for myself, relaxation, and for clearing my head.

This too shall pass, I know.

Two More Months

Thursday, January 26, 2012

I haven’t blogged in a while and you can blame that on my busy schedule on acads and work. I actually lost the drive to do anything for the past few months but it is a good thing I was able to deal with the depression that has been taking over me.

Anyway, there really isn’t much to say now because first, i cut two classes today to finish work and a lab report due later. Hehe.

Two more months til I graduate and there are no words that could describe my excitement. But before that, can anyone please tell me what an english horse tack is?

New Year’s Resolution? Not Exactly A New Thing

Friday, December 30, 2011

Only a few more days before new year comes, and I still haven’t come up with a New Year’s resolution yet. See, I always make a list before the year ends, believing that I’ll start the year right if I do. Unfortunately, I cannot do everything that’s on my list and in fact, I’ll be lucky enough if I accomplish just one from it. For example, I’d write ‘Learn about new medical equipment before the year ends’, but I’d procrastinate until the last minute or I’d totally forget about it.

Howell. Two more days and it’ll be 2012 already.

Happy New Year, friends!

Happy Holidays!

Sunday, December 25, 2011

It’s that time of the year again, where we have an excuse to pig out and stuff ourselves not only with the delicious meal served for Noche Buena, but with family love as well.

Christmas is also about forgiveness and making friends with enemies. As much as I would like to say that it’s the time to celebrate Jesus’ birth, we all know that December 25 is only chosen by the Church since it falls on Winter Solstice. I guess that won’t kill the Christmas Spirit, right?

 Anyhoo.

 MERRY CHRISTMAS, everyone! :)

Holiday Christmas Shopping

Friday, December 23, 2011

Christmas is just around the corner (less than 24 hours as I write this blog post actually), and I am pretty sure that a lot of people are still doing their last minute Christmas shopping. With the hustle and bustle as everyone tries to get everything done before Christmas eve, there is the possibility of shoppers compromising their budgets jsut so they could finish the task at hand.

This shouldn’t be the case however, since many stores and brands offer discount coupons especially for the holidays. If you want to save money and still make sure that what you will give is an awesome gift, you can use your bath & body works coupons. Or you can use it for yourself too to get that strawberry scented lotion you’ve always had your eyes on.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! :)

Best Lantern Parade Evah

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

Lunch with the sisters

I must say that this year’s the best Lantern Parade i have had as a student. Watched it with my sisters, brods and Tau Alpha friends. Although my psycho ex was there and my recent ex too, it never got into the way of me enjoying the parade. There were free booze at the Tau Alpha corner (which were bitin btw) and hanging out with them was one of the highlights of the evening.

Went to the SR Residents’ Christmas Party after seven bottles. Stayed there for less an hour lang.

Now I have one goal: Make my last sem in UP the best one. I may be emotionally stressed, but I’ll make sure that it won’t get into my way of happiness.

Blog to basics

Thursday, December 15, 2011

So I’m thinking of going back to old school diary keeping, instead of posting personal things on my blog.

What do you think? Any suggestions?

Get Discount Scrubs You Can Afford

Monday, December 5, 2011

Nursing is one of the in-demand courses in the Philippines and before students can graduate from the program, they are required to serve in hospitals for free (yes they do it without pay). Since this is the case, they will need to have extra sets of uniforms and scrubs so that the hassle of washing their clothes after every duty is eliminated. However, uniforms can be expensive and can burn holes in students’ pockets. They can avoid this predicament by availing discount scrubs from their favorite mananahi or internet websites offering such promos.

Get Thick Eyelashes Like Penelope Cruz

Friday, November 25, 2011

Wearing make-up enhances a woman’s look to giver her a brighter and more glowing look. While some women can do it (applying make-up, that is), there are also a fraction of the population who have no idea how to apply eyeshadow or which color goes with which. This blogpost isn’t about make-up tutorial but rather, a post on how I admire long, thick and natural eyelashes.

This is what enhanced eyelashes look like

Unfortunately, not everyone is gifted with pretty eyelashes but if you want to get one that can be at least considered as long, thick and look natural, you can avail or use eyelash enhancer products. This can come in the form of mascara, or you can go to the nearest salon to have extensions. Since it’s becoming popular, you won’t have to spend too  much to avail the service.

Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire

Monday, November 7, 2011

I haven’t read a decent book in a while (except for reference books for academic purposes) and I can’t recall the last time I sat down and relaxed with a book in hand.

Before going home yesterday, I decided to drop by the Moonleaf Tea Shop in Maginhawa to buy my favorite milk tea concoction, Wintermelon Milk Tea with pearls. At 85php, you are sure to get your money’s worth. Anyway, since I was in no hurry to go home yet since it’s a bit early and I can’t stand walking under the intense heat of the sun, i sat down in one of the tables outside the tea shop and took out my current reading: Meg Cabot’s Pants on Fire.

So I was thinking about wedding bands for men, and why not a lot of designs are available for them to choose. Women on the other hand, have a wide array of wedding ring designs to choose from, often making it hard for them to make up their minds.

In.Your.Face.Thesis

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

I am just soooo happy that I’m finally finished with my thesis, that I just had to make a blog post to express it.

YES! I’m done with thesis! I’m now having that In.Your.Face.Thesis. feeling where I feel triumphant and at the same time, at the brink of tears because I am just soooo relieved that it’s finally over. I have compromised a lot for that 43-page manuscript and trust me. It’s no fun giving up your social life for something that you are required to finish.

Sembreak is almost within my reach. Just a few more exams plus SPP report, and I am finally free to watch all the series that I want. oooor. I could shop for dead sea products? Whacha think?
